Hi Violinists!
Each week I "shout out" one or more students in each class! This week I would like to shout out: James - your technique in your bow hand and playing position is improving so fast! You are being so diligent!
Check out our Halloween video “Boo Cross Buns” below!
We have a performance on the books! We will be performing at the Winter Showcase at Mitchell on December 2nd. Stay tuned!
Please purchase a Suzuki Book 1. This is not optional!
Please make sure you have a working Music Stand at home.
You can access sheet music (De Colores and even Go Tell Aunt Rhody) in the Intermediate Drive
Violinists and families - this week it is so important that you begin the habit of practice. Please take out your violin 4 times for practice between 10/29-11/4 for just 5-10 minutes every time. I want you practicing practice! This will make practicing much easier later in the year and is a great life skill!
This week in violin we:
Worked on our elevator wrist and elbow when we change strings with the bow. This helps us not hit the other strings.
Played “Boo” Cross Buns
Learned 1st line of Go Tell Aunt Rhody
Turned GTAR into a Halloween song by making the 2s low (this was for fun and to practice low twos, we will not be performing this way - or if we do, please practice the High 2 version the most!)
Worked in De Colores and GTAR groups
10/29-11/4 Practice:
5-10 minutes a day
4x a week
STANDING with violin high on shoulder
Maahi, Claire, Olivia, and Eva
1. Review Bow Hold
Practice Pepperoni Pizza on every string “going up” and “going down” the elevator
2. Practice 1st line of GTAR
this is page 29 in your Suzuki Book
Make sure your bow is on “level 2”
Make sure your fingers are pressing hard enough on the strings
I can’t do it this week, but I will try to make a GTAR video for next week
Lucy M, Amelia, Savannah, Lill, Evie, James, Lucy G
Practice measures 1-20 of De Colores
-Can you start to memorize your notes? We are playing this memorized in the Concert
Review Bow Hold
Practice Pepperoni Pizza on every string “going up” and “going down” the elevator
Practices CCB to continue to work on low 2s
Do all of this with the violin HIGH on the shoulder
Happy Practicing!
Violin Safety Tips:
1. Always open the violin case with backpack straps on the ground
2. Put your violin away in the case when not in use
3. Walking feet with the violin in your hands
4. Violin face (the front with the bridge) is NEVER down. Back of the violin only on surfaces
5. Keep the violin away from extreme temperatures (think heating vents and furnaces, cold winter cars, hot summer cars)
