Hi Violinists!
Each week I "shout out" one or more students in each class! This week I would like to shout out: Eliana - beautiful bow hold and heavy head! You are so consistent and I can tell you have been practicing hard!
Please purchase a Suzuki Book 1! Please bring this to class every week!
Please make sure you have a working Music Stand at home. You do not have to bring this to class yet.
Violinists and families - this week it is so important that you begin the habit of practice. Please take out your violin 4 times for practice between 10/29-11/5 for just 5-10 minutes every time. I want you practicing practice! This will make practicing much easier later in the year and is a great life skill!
This week in violin we:
worked on string crossings with elevator wrist (E string= level 1, A string= level 2, D string= level 3, G string= level 4)
Learned BOO Cross Buns
Reviewed measures 1-4 and 7 and 8 of Lightly Row (measure 3 and 4 of line 2)
Learned to make Lightly BOO
Worked on Bow Hold
10/29-11/5 Practice:
5-10 minutes a day
4x a week
STANDING with violin high on shoulder
straight violin wrist
Review Bow Hold
Review measures 1-4 of Lightly Row (do the whole video) - put the measures
Practice measures 7 and 8 of Lightly Row (do the whole video)
Do all of this with the violin HIGH on the shoulder
Do all of this with a mouse house, thumb “peeking”, and elbow under wrist
Practice should happen standing up and using a music stand (when you are reading off of your sheet music). Please make sure you have a working Music Stand at home. You do not have to bring this to class yet.
I made a WATERS INTERMEDIATE VIOLIN Drive. Lightly Row is in there if you do not have your book yet. This is where I will upload anything that is not in your book that I hand out. I uploaded Lightly Row (which is in the Suzuki Book). This is the only time I will do this for a song in your book.
Happy Practicing!
Violin Safety Tips:
1. Always open the violin case with backpack straps on the ground
2. Put your violin away in the case when not in use
3. Walking feet with the violin in your hands
4. Violin face (the front with the bridge) is NEVER down. Back of the violin only on surfaces
5. Keep the violin away from extreme temperatures (think heating vents and furnaces, cold winter cars, hot summer cars)
